The International Accreditation Service (IAS) Building Department Recognition (BDR) Program is a way for local building departments and other agencies to demonstrate a commitment to service, safety and continuous improvement. Those who earn this achievement are recognized for quality processes related to permitting, plan review, inspection, and property maintenance code enforcement services.

Recognition by a third-party international accreditation organization can elevate your organization’s quest for excellence and also provide a forum to measure performance and achieve new objectives.

The BDR program is open to local building and code enforcement departments, as well as third-party companies providing building department services.

The BDR process is completely online, and IAS representatives work closely with applicants to complete the process in an efficient and timely manner. BDR is available to organizations that conform to the criteria contained in the Recognition Criteria for Building Departments, Code Enforcement Departments, and Third Parties Providing Building And/Or Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Services (RC418).
