95-Year-Old Terminal Tower is a Can’t-Miss Experience in Cleveland
There are few buildings as iconic as Cleveland’s Terminal Tower. Once known as the largest building outside of New York, the 95-year-old Terminal Tower is part of a larger complex that includes a rapid transit line where all rail lines converge.
In Aug. 2025, ICC and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts signed a new agreement that provides ICC reference materials to the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS), continuing their ongoing relationship. This first-of-its-kind agreement provides members and staff of the Board of Building Regulations and Standards with Digital Codes Premium subscriptions, PDFs and code books.
In partnership with ConstructReach, the Code Council is excited to host an “I built this!” event on Monday, Oct. 20 from 9am - 2pm PT at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland at the 2025 Annual Conference. This event aligns with the Code Council's Safety 2.0 initiative, and will be filled with hands-on experiences for students to explore possibilities and future careers in construction and building safety.

Multi-Disciplinary Research Team Seeks Input on IRC Improvements
Earlier this year, ICC announced a wholistic review of the International Residential Code® to identify potential changes that can reduce construction costs and simplify the code without degrading existing life safety requirements. A public comment portal will be available on the BIRC webpage starting Oct. 21, and we encourage you to submit your feedback by Nov. 28. Your insights will be instrumental in guiding the research team and committee’s work and shaping future improvements to the IRC.

ICC is now seeking volunteers for five Code Action Committees and the Codes and Standards Council to participate in the code development process for the 2027-2029 cycle. By serving on these committees, you will help shape the 2030 International Codes®, advancing building safety through model codes used by your communities and others globally.

Proposed Committee Interpretation Posted for ICC Membership Review and Comment
A proposed Committee Interpretation to Section 503.1 General of the 2024 International Building Code® was posted for ICC Membership review and comment on Oct. 3, 2025. The review and comment period will end Nov. 3, 2025.
Check Your ICC Membership Status to Ensure Eligibility for 2026 Code Hearings
To be eligible to vote at Group A and B Public Comment Hearings (PCH) or the Online Governmental Consensus Vote (OGCV) in 2026, an ICC Governmental Membership must be current as of Oct. 21, 2025. If the membership expires before Oct. 21, 2025, it must be renewed by Oct. 21 to be eligible to vote in the 2026 PCH or OGCV.
